Concrete it!

Concrete it!

We added an addition onto a 1803 farmhouse. The master bedroom in the addition was very large, because of the size we decided to add a floating wall to create a hallway between the room and the closets. This would give some privacy to the changing area and since the hallway would go into the master bath the flow would be perfect. When the wall was complete I hated the idea of just a plain wall sitting in the room, I contemplated hanging artwork, photographs, I even thought of placing shiplap on the wall. The home has a farmhouse/industrial feel so after much debate (Mostly in my own brain) I thought why not add a concrete style wall. I was somewhat frightened by how it would turn out, but with the help of an excellent faux painting artist, we were able to add the 'concrete' finish to the wall. To cut the industrial look down slightly we added old beams to the top as well as over the walkway. It certainly is a style that many people may not like, but it was a style that fitted this room perfectly.
